The Pound - Llandaff 50+ - confirmation that the project is about to go live

08 October 2019

A constructive meeting with Downsmerrifield Architects, Llandaff 50+, A&N Lewis Limited of Cardiff and Owen Associates resulting in a proposed start on site date late October 2019 for the construction work at the Pound. Fundraising is still ongoing for the charity.

Llandaff 50+ is a registered charity to promote social inclusion among the over 50s in Llandaff by the provision of facilities for social interaction, recreation and opportunities for volunteering. The Pound - Cardiff Council has offered us a Community Asset Transfer of the old ‘loos’ next to the 13th century Bishop’s Castle at the top of the High Street. As the derelict loos stand in the old medieval cattle pound, they are calling the Centre ‘The Pound’. It will be a base for activities for older people, run by older people. The small heritage room, manned by Llandaff 50+ volunteers, will share the story of Llandaff and the Bishop’s Castle, and they will return an accessible toilet to our village city for visitors and locals.
