Elan Valley Reservoir's Opening Anniversary 21st July 1904 to 2020

21 July 2020

The project to supply water to Birmingham was officially opened by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra on 21 July 1904. Today marks the anniversary of the opening of that date.

Owen Associates recently completed a feasibility study on turning the Engineer's Hut - Pen Y Garreg Bugalow in to an Artist's retreat. Pictures of our site visit can be seen here.

Yesterday we had an enquiry about the hut through our website and the lady who emailed us stated that her father had the Theodolite that was used by Eustace Tickell. Click here to find out more on Eustace Tickell. What a coincidence that today is the anniversary of the opening and we are pleased to be able to share the photos of the Theodolite.
